In reply to Sarah. Hey Sarah! This was my favorite comment of the day! =) And ask away. =) I think the giving fund could be a huge help. Pick any amount that seems doable. $10 a month, or $20. I auto transfer the money and let it build up. That way I can do even bigger things as well. But those small gifts are so important too. If you read "Give big with a small budget" it has some great tips. An acquaintance of mine had his dog pass away, then 2 weeks later his mom, then a week after that his business partner. It was like the month from hell. So I spend $10 on sushi and $10 on some really nice pastries and dropped it off at his work. Just a small gift on a really hard day. I totally get being stressed about the retirement accounts. So start where you can. As you get your ducks in a row, you can increase that amount. Or we sometimes do one time cash dumps into our giving fund. The trick is starting my being faithful in the small ways. Bigger ways will come. When we were in debt, we started by giving $100 a month and it was a HUGE stretch. Now to give a one time gift of $500, $1000 or $3000 feels rather easy. =)
